Steam capsule sizes and dimensions (2026)
Use the current Steamworks dimensions for store and library artwork, then check whether your logo and focal point still read when Steam scales the image down.
Valve can update specifications. Check the linked Steamworks page before final submission.

Store asset dimensions
Upload each asset at the source size Valve lists today. Steam creates the smaller display versions itself, such as the 184 × 69 and 120 × 45 copies of the small capsule.
Header capsule · 920 × 430
Used on the store page and in several recommendation contexts. Keep the game logo readable and communicate the game through artwork rather than extra marketing copy.
Small capsule · 462 × 174
Appears in lists such as search, top sellers and new releases. Steam generates 184 × 69 and 120 × 45 versions from it, and Valve says the logo should nearly fill the small capsule.
Main capsule · 1232 × 706
Used in the main store carousel. Preserve a clear visual hierarchy and avoid important details near areas that may lose impact when scaled.
Vertical capsule · 748 × 896
A portrait store asset. Recompose the artwork for this ratio instead of stretching or blindly cropping a horizontal capsule.
Screenshots · 1920 × 1080+
Steam requires screenshots at 16:9 and at least 1920 × 1080. Show real gameplay and make the first screenshots explain the experience quickly.
Page background · 1438 × 810
An optional, subtle background. It should support the page rather than compete with the store content.
Library asset dimensions
Library capsule · 600 × 900
The portrait image in a player's library grid and collections. Include a readable game logo; Steam also creates a 300 × 450 version.
Library header · 920 × 430
A required landscape library asset. If you leave it empty, Steam falls back to your store header capsule, so upload one designed for the library.
Library hero · 3840 × 1240
Artwork behind the separate library logo, with no text. Keep the key subject inside the centered 860 × 380 area, which stays visible when the Steam window is resized.
Library logo · 1280 wide / 720 tall
A transparent PNG of your logotype placed over the hero. No other words are allowed; choose its position in Steamworks' preview tool.
Design for the smallest appearance.
A correct canvas size does not guarantee a readable capsule. Test the title, central subject and silhouette at the dimensions players actually encounter. The small capsule deserves its own composition when the main artwork becomes crowded.
Follow Steam's artwork rules.
Base capsules are for game artwork, the game name and an official subtitle. Review scores, awards, discounts and other promotional copy have separate rules or temporary artwork workflows. Always check Valve's current documentation before upload.
Steam capsule size questions
What are the required Steam store capsule sizes in 2026?
The four required Steam store capsules are Header Capsule (920 × 430 px), Small Capsule (462 × 174 px), Main Capsule (1232 × 706 px), and Vertical Capsule (748 × 896 px).
What are the required Steam Library asset dimensions?
Steam Library requires four assets: a Library Capsule (600 × 900 px), a Library Header (920 × 430 px), a Library Hero (3840 × 1240 px, no text) and a transparent Library Logo (1280 px wide and/or 720 px tall).
Can I put review scores or award badges on my default Steam capsules?
No. Valve's graphical asset rules prohibit review scores, award logos, discount callouts and promotional text on base store capsules.
What size is the Steam header capsule?
The header capsule is 920 × 430 pixels. It appears at the top of your store page and in recommendation areas. The library header uses the same 920 × 430 size.
What size is the Steam library capsule?
The library capsule is 600 × 900 pixels, a portrait image used in the player's library grid and collections. Steam automatically creates a 300 × 450 version.
What size is the Steam main capsule?
The main capsule is 1232 × 706 pixels and appears in the carousel at the top of the Steam store front page.
What sizes does Steam create from the small capsule?
Steam generates 184 × 69 and 120 × 45 pixel versions from the 462 × 174 small capsule. Design so the logo is still readable at 120 × 45.
